The best interior design apps in the UK (2026)

The best interior design apps in the UK depend on the job. For layouts, Planner 5D and Homestyler are the strongest free planners. For trying styles on a photo of your room, Interior AI and ReimagineHome. For paint, Dulux Visualiser. For IKEA furniture, the IKEA app. None of them designs the room around you and buys the pieces; Solved does.

Which is the best free room planner app?

Planner 5D and Homestyler are the two strongest free planners. Both let you draw a room to scale, furnish it from a large library and see it in 3D.

Planner 5D works on the web, iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac, and is the easier of the two to pick up. The free version gives you unlimited projects with about half the furniture catalogue. Premium, at £59.99 a year in the UK App Store, unlocks the rest and adds AI floor-plan recognition.

Homestyler is more detailed and its renders look closer to photographs. The free plan includes unlimited standard-resolution renders and a few AI credits. Paid plans start at $4.90 a month on its website, and in-app subscriptions in the UK start at £8.99 a month.

Both are good at answering one question: does it fit? The furniture in them is mostly generic, so you still have to find real pieces that match. If the question is where the sofa goes, see how to arrange living room furniture.

Which AI interior design app is best?

For restyling a photo of your own room, Interior AI is the most established. You upload a photo, pick a style and get a redesigned picture in seconds. It is web only and paid, from $49 a month or $349 a year. Watch out for unrelated iPhone apps with similar names.

ReimagineHome gives you five free designs before you pay, then plans from $19 a month. Its higher plans add real product suggestions, which makes it one of the few AI tools that tries to close the gap between the picture and the shopping.

RoomGPT is another popular web tool for quick redesigns from one photo; its prices are only shown once you sign in.

What all of these do well is show you a direction fast. What they do not do is plan the room to your measurements or buy anything, so the furniture in the picture is usually not something you can order.

Which app is best for furniture and AR?

The IKEA app lets you scan your room or build one to your measurements, place IKEA pieces in 3D, then buy them. A full room scan needs an iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR sensor. It is free, but it only knows IKEA.

Roomle is a precise AR planner on iPhone and iPad, with thousands of products you can place in your room at true size and a shop-the-look feature for partner retailers. It is free for one plan, with Plus from £4.99 a month. Roomle has retired its old web planner, so the app is now the way in.

Which app is best for paint colours?

Dulux Visualiser is free on iPhone and Android. It recolours your walls live through the camera, matches colours from a photo and lets you order testers. It is the quickest way to rule a colour out, though a tester on the actual wall, seen morning and evening, is still the final word.

What happened to Houzz shopping?

Houzz closed its shopping marketplace in May 2026. The app is still useful for browsing photos of real rooms and finding local designers and trades, but you can no longer buy from it.

Where does Solved fit?

Every app above does part of the job. Planners get the scale right, AI apps give you ideas, and shop apps sell you their own range. You are left to join it up.

Solved gives you your own interior designer, in a chat. Send a photo of your room and tell your designer how you live in it. They work around what you are keeping, show you the room finished with real pieces sized to fit, change it until you love it, then order everything for you in one go. Your designer is AI, built on how working interior designers think, and the design is free: you pay only for the pieces you buy, plus one delivery charge per design.

What would we do first?

Decide which question you are actually stuck on: the style, the fit or the buying. If it is the style, try an AI app for ten minutes. If it is the fit, measure the room and use a planner. If it is all three, send us a photo.
